Accommodation Nearly Sold out in Iceland

Coming to Iceland this summer? Accommodation might be a problem. CEO of the travel agency Nordic Travel, Sigurjón Þór Hafsteinsson, says the number of foreign tourists has increased so much that it’s not certain accommodation can be found for all of them, mbl.is reports. As a result, some may have to cancel their trip.

“We notice the increase in the arrivals of tourists. Last year was a record. If the increase is even larger this year, and a number of hotels have not been built, then supply may not keep up with demand. If it doesn’t, people may be in trouble,” Sigurjón remarked.

The number of foreign visitors to Iceland in 2015 was 1.26 million.
