Accident Closes Road in West Iceland

The Icelandic Coast Guard helicopter was called out this afternoon following an accident in West Iceland, mbl.is reports. A truck with a trailer landed off the road in Brattabrekka, east of Snæfellsnes peninsula, in very windy conditions. The road in Brattabrekka is still closed and travelers are being directed to a detour through road 585, Hlíðarvegur.

According to the West Iceland police, the driver was alone in the truck and got stuck in there. Information is not available regarding whether he has been released, but half an hour ago, the helicopter had not yet left for Reykjavík.
