Last year, 872 individuals were granted Icelandic citizenship. Most of the new citizens, 187, are from Poland; 66 are from Serbia and Montenegro and 63 individuals from the United States. Of the 872 new citizens, 694 were adults and 178 children. 560 individuals were granted citizenship by decree of the Minister of Justice.
