3,000 companies of the form hf. and ehf. were established in Iceland in 2005, 17% more than in 2004 reports the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service. 72% of the companies reside in the Greater Reykjavík Area.
Of the new companies 439 were holding companies, a 77% increase from the year before. There were 54% fewer entrants in the field of financial services than the preceding year.
