2006 fish catch up from last year

The value of the fishing catches of Icelandic vessels was ISK 40 billion in the first half of 2006, as compared to ISK 37.3 billion for the same period in 2005. This is an increase of ISK 2.7 billion, or 7.3 percent. Morgunbladid and VÍSIR online report.

The value of demersal species was ISK 30.1 billion in June, as compared with ISK 25.5 percent for the same period in 2005, accounting for an increase of 18 percent. As for individual species, the value of pollock rose by nearly 64 percent and haddock some 20 percent between years.
