An interview with Unnsteinn Manuel Stefánsson, ringleader of the band Retro Stefson, was published in the weekend issue of DV. Dv.is published a few pieces from the interview:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />
“We are doing something that a lot of people wish they were doing so there is no use in whining. For someone like me, this is the most fun thing I could be doing. Many people in this business always want to be doing something bigger; playing at larger stages and for more people. Then when that happens, they just want even larger stages and more people and are never satisfied. I prefer just to enjoy the moment,” says Unnsteinn, dv.is reports. The band has recently returned from the festival South by Southwest which was held in Austin, Texas.
This was the band’s first time in the U.S. Unnsteinn says that they were well received in Texas but he does not know yet if they will receive any offers. “I think everyone is still just waking up from this festival,” he says. This is a very large festival. Many bands perform and a lot of agents are scouting for talented musicians.
Unnsteinn says that his stay in the U.S. was very nice, but that people told him that he cannot evaluate the entire country from visiting one state. Unnsteinn is however not sure when the band will play in the States again, since there is a lot of paperwork which comes with applying for a work permit and such, to be able to play.
