“If you’re visiting Iceland you’ll find no better way of experiencing the true Christmas spirit than paying a visit to Grýla. Grýla is a great host and will offer you a taste of some of the food essential to Icelandic Christmas,” a press release states.

Grýla, a gruesome ogress with an appetite for children, has been around for hundreds of years and is laden with stories about how the strange Icelanders celebrate Christmas.

At the show, Grýla will recount all sorts of stories, including tales of her sons, the 13 Yule Lads, the huge Christmas Cat and “of course green peas because without green peas, there will be no Christmas! Will you dare talk to her?” the press release asks.

“Let’s Talk Christmas” starts next Thursday, December 1, at 7 pm. It includes a traditional Icelandic Christmas dinner and tickets cost ISK 6,900 (USD 57, EUR 43). There are special discounts for groups.

For bookings, call (+354) 861-7712 or email: [email protected].
