“Flying Testicles” in East Iceland

This year’s Eistnaflug rock festival (“The Flight of Testicles”) will be held July 10 to 13 in Neskaupstadur, east Iceland. Since 2005, the festival has promoted Icelandic metal and rock bands. All proceeds go to children with cancer.

This year’s lineup includes Gone Postal, Bastard, Concrete, Slugs, Mammut, Brain Police, Momentum and punk legend HAM, as confirmed by Iceland Music Export (IMX).

Another festival named after body parts, LungA (“Lung”) will take place July 14 to 20 in Seydisfjördur, also in east Iceland. LungA is an arts festival for young people aged between 16 and 25, designed to boost music appreciation and awareness with workshops and concerts.

Musicians scheduled to play during the festival include Trentemöller & Kasper Björke from Denmark, who will play alongside Icelandic acts such as Bang Gang, Bloodgroup and FM Belfast.

For those interested in different types of music, the Reykjavík Accordion Festival will be held at the Reykjavík Museum on July 15, and the last week in July, the international classic Reykholt Music Festival takes place in the historic town of Reykholt in west Iceland.
