Icelandic director Benedikt Erlingsson’s debut film Of Horses and Men (Hross í oss; 2013) has been nominated for the 2014 Nordic Council Film Prize, competing against four other films from Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway, as announced this week.
The winner will receive a prize of DKK 350,000 (ISK 7.2 million, USD 62,000, EUR 47,000), ruv.is reports.
The film won the trophy for Best Film at the 2014 Eddas, the Icelandic Film and Television Awards, and Benedikt was named Best Director at the 2013 Tokyo International Film Festival and Best New Director at San Sebastián in 2013.
