‘Heartstone’ Nominated for Most Eddas

The film Heartstone (Hjartasteinn), directed by Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson, has been nominated for 16 Edda Awards, the Icelandic film and television prizes, according to RÚV.

This coming-of-age film, shot in Borgarfjörður eystri, the East Fjords, is nominated in most major categories, among them Film of the Year and Director of the Year. Both the film’s main actors, Baldur Einarsson and Blær Hinriksson, are nominated for their performances. Four other actors in the film are nominated as well.

The film The Oath (Eiðurinn) by Baltasar Kormákur has received 13 nominations, among them Supporting Actor of the Year (Gísli Örn Garðarsson) and Actress of the Year (Hera Hilmarsdóttir), in additon to Director of the Year.

In addition, numerous television programs and documentaries have received nominations.

The Edda Awards will be presented at the Hilton Hotel in Reykjavík on February 26.
