The Icelandic film Borgríki II (City State 2), which premiered on Friday, shot straight to the top of the Icelandic box office, pushing U.S. director David Fincher’s Gone Girl from the number one spot, ruv.is reports.
Borgríki II has been viewed by 4,224 people. Directed by Ólafur Jóhannesson, the film has received positive reviews: four stars from Morgunblaðið and three from Fréttablaðið.
The film is the sequel to Borgríki I and tells the story of police officer Hannes whose job it is to investigate his superior in the narcotics division.
Three other Icelandic films are currently screening in Iceland: Afinn (‘The Grandfather’), which has been viewed by around 12,000 people, París Norðursins (Paris of the North), viewed by roughly 11,000 people and Vonarstræti (Life in a Fishbowl), viewed by around 48,000 people.
