Ed Sheeran will be playing a concert in Reykjavík as part of his 2019 world tour, mbl.is reports. As he stated in the personalized tour greeting video he recorded for Iceland, Ed has visited Iceland before as a tourist, but this is the first time he’ll be performing in the country.
Per Ed’s preference, there will be no sponsors for his concert in Iceland, nor anywhere else on his tour, and there will also be no ticket pre-sale and no tickets sold to companies. Ticket sales are limited to eight tickets per person.
Per the Iceland-specific FAQ page on his website, there are also special measures in place to “personalize” each ticket sold. This is done, the website says, “[i]n order to put a stop to the secondary ticketing market, absurd prices and fan rip-offs.” However, it also means that since the name of the ticket purchaser is printed on the tickets, “[a]t the time of admission, at least the surname printed on the ticket must correspond with the identity document to be presented; the second (and possibly third and fourth) person only receives access at the same time as the person issuing the identity card.”
Tickets, which, in Iceland, start at ISK 15,990 [$145.62; €123.63] “for pitch standing area” will go on sale everywhere at the same time: September 27, 2018 at 9:00 AM.
Ed’s performance in Iceland will be on Saturday, August 10 at Laugardalsvöllur. Tickets will be sold through Tix.is/ED.
