Justice League to be Filmed in Iceland

Justice League, the latest film in the DC-Comics series, will be shot in Iceland in October, more specifically in the village Djúpavík in the West Fjord’s remote Árneshreppur region. Owner of local hotel Ásbjörn Þorgilsson is expecting a crew of 200.

Mehr Isländer wollen Urlaub im Ausland machen

Laut einer aktuellen MMR-Umfrage, die zwischen dem 15. und 22. Juni durchgeführt wurde, planen 49,6 Prozent der Isländer, in ihrem Sommerurlaub ins Ausland zu reisen. Noch nie zuvor waren es so viele (die Umfrage wird seit 2011 durchgeführt). 2013 waren es 35,2 Prozent.

Pirates and Independents Neck and Neck

The Pirate Party is once again Iceland’s largest political party with a rating of 26.8 percent, according to the latest MMR survey. The Independence Party, traditionally the country’s largest, has lost its newfound lead but remains close to the Pirates with 24 percent.

Thousands Participate in Sixth Annual Slut Walk

Thousands of people demonstrated against sex offense, gender-based violence and slut shaming in downtown Reykjavík on Saturday, as part of the sixth annual Druslugangan, or Slut Walk. One of its organizers, Hjalti Vigfússon, estimates that around 15,000 people participated in the walk.

Katrín Tanja Wins World CrossFit Games, Again

Icelandic athlete Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir defended her 2015 title World’s Fittest Woman by winning the CrossFit Games in California last night. She follows in the footsteps of her countrywoman Annie Mist Þórisdóttir, CrossFit world champion in 2011 and 2012.
