Snow to Return to Iceland

The temperature may have reached a balmy 12°C (53.6°F) in Reykjavík today but those traveling around the country this week need not unpack their bikinis: sleet and snow are forecast on mountain roads in the north and east of Iceland this evening and tonight. Driving conditions in vehicles without summer tires can be risky, the Icelandic Met Office warns.

Women Call for End to Sexual Violence

Dozens of women have been sharing their experiences with sexual violence on the Facebook group Beauty tips! in recent days, using the hashtags #þöggun (‘suppression’) and #konurtala (‘women speak’). The group, which is closed as well as secret, meaning that an invite from a group member as well as administrative approval are required to join, has around 25,000 members, Vísir reports.
