Neue Pilzsorte in Island

Ein faustgroßer Korallenpilz, Clavaria zollingeri, ist im vergangenen Herbst im nordisländischen Svarfaðardalur gefunden worden. Der Pilz ist eigentlich in Ozeanien, Nord- und Südamerika und in Teilen Asien beheimatet. In Europa kommt er eher selten vor. In Island war er bis Dato nicht gefunden worden.

Wegen Porno verurteilt

Das Distriktgericht in Ostisland hat in der vergangenen Woche eine Strafe von 60 Tagen über einen 19-jährigen Mann verhängt, weil dieser Nacktfotos seiner Ex-Freundin ohne deren Einverständnis verbreitet hatte. Er muss ihr nun 250.000 ISK (1700 EUR) Schmerzensgeld für diesen Racheakt bezahlen.

Overnight Stays in Iceland Up 21 Percent

The number of overnight stays in Iceland totaled 5.5 million last year, up 21 percent from the previous year. Stays by foreign visitors made up 80 percent of the total, up 25 percent from 2013. Overnight stays among Icelanders increased six percent from 2013, according to Statistics Iceland.
