Iceland Sends Condolences to Denmark

Icelandic officials were among those sending condolences to Danish authorities yesterday because of the terrorist attacks in Copenhagen last weekend. Prime Minister of Iceland Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson will send a formal letter to his Danish counterpart. He used to live on the street where the synagogue was attacked.

Woman Arrested on Suspicion of Manslaughter

A woman was arrested in Hafnarfjörður, outside Reykjavík yesterday, on suspicion of having stabbed her partner in the chest, causing his death. She was brought before a judge at Reykjanes District Court and was handed a custody sentence valid until February 23.

‘Unbroken’ Wins Iceland Eurovision Final

‘Unbroken’ performed by María Ólafsdóttir will be the song representing Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna in May. The song proved one of the two most popular at the Söngvakeppnin Eurovision final in Iceland —which was broadcast live on RÚV—on Saturday and ended up winning the superfinal.
