Der isländische Wetterdienst hat für kommende Nacht eine Schlechtwetterwarnung herausgegeben. Im Nordwesten der Insel war heute Sturm und Windgeschwindigkeiten von bis zu 23 m/s, am späteren Tag wanderte der Sturm nach Südosten.

Residents to Meet to Discuss Eruption Pollution

A community meeting will be held in Höfn, Southeast Iceland, at 8 pm tonight to discuss the impact of the ongoing volcanic eruption in Holuhraun. Representatives of the Earth Sciences Institute, the Directorate of Health, the Icelandic Met Office, the Environment Agency of Iceland and the Civic Protection Department will attend the meeting.

Iceland’s Foreign Minister Visits UN University

Icelandic Minister for Foreign Affairs Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson visited the United Nations University (UNU) headquarters in Tokyo yesterday. He met with Rector of UNU David Malone and discussed the university’s operations. At the occasion, a new five-year agreement on the Geothermal Training Programme of the UNU, which is based in Iceland, was signed.
