Iceland and Suriname to Discuss Violence against Women

Iceland’s Foreign Minister Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson announced during a speech before the United Nations in New York yesterday that Iceland and Suriname, South America, will convene a “Barbershop” conference in January 2015 where men will discuss gender equality with other men, with a special focus on addressing violence against women.

Drones Used to Count Seals

Scientists in Iceland will use drones for the seal count this year, organized by the Institute of Freshwater Fisheries and Icelandic Seal Center. If the method proves successful, it will be added to the usual counting of seals by plane and is hoped to reduce costs.
