Bjarni Benediktsson to Be PM?

Iceland’s most influential television personality and political blogger Egill Helgason wrote in his blog post today on eyjan.is that the one reason for the government pushing through the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson’s proposal to withdraw from European Union talks is that the larger party in the ruling coalition, the Independence Party, is tired of the Progressive Party which has continued to lose supporters since last year’s election.

Protests to Continue Today

Another protest against the decision by the ruling Progressive and Independence Parties to put forward a resolution to withdraw from European Union talks are planned in Austurvöllur square outside parliament in Reykjavík from 5-7:00 pm this afternoon.

Of Horses and Men Big Winner at Film and TV Awards

In Hollywood they have the Oscars, in Iceland it is the Eddas, the Icelandic Film and Television Awards. This year’s award ceremony was in held in Harpa concert hall in Reykjavík on Saturday.
