Icelandic Artists Miss Out on Nordic Music Prize

retro_stefson_album_2012The Nordic Music Prize’s jury announced at a ceremony during the by:Larm festival in Oslo on Thursday that this year’s Nordic Music Prize goes to Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit for the album The Lion’s Roar. Among other nominees were Icelandic musicians Ásgeir Trausti and pop band Retro Stefson.

Icelandic Art Forger: I Sold Fake Picasso to Danes

copenhagen03_psIceland’s best known art forger, Sigurður Þorláksson, maintained in an interview with Danish weekly Rapport in 1974 that a Picasso painting at the National Gallery of Denmark is a forgery he sold to a Danish fisherman. The old story was brought up on RÚV’s Rás 1 radio program Inni on Friday.
