Daylight Two Hours Longer

rvk_sunrise_nov_2012_goAs of yesterday, the daylight in Iceland is two hours longer than on winter solstice, December 21. Today the sun rose in Reykjavík at 10:37 and will set at 16:43. Residents of Ísafjörður have roughly one hour less daylight than in the capital with the sun rising at 11:03 and setting at 16:26.

Icelandic ‘Girl’ Optimistic about Having Name Approved

baby_psBjörk Eiðsdóttir, mother of 15-year-old Blær Bjarkardóttir who is suing Icelandic authorities to have her name officially approved (she’s known as ‘girl’ in the National Registry), states her daughter is optimistic she will win the case—the principal proceedings took place at Reykjavík District Court yesterday.
