The vast majority of Icelanders, 98 percent, would vote for Barack Obama in the upcoming US presidential election despite the majority believing that the results of November’s election will have little or no effect on Iceland.

Nurses Protest Hospital Director Pay Rise

nationalhospital-hallgrimskirkja_ipaAssistant nurses in Iceland have expressed their anger over the wage increase of the director of Landspítali, the national hospital, Björn Zoëga. Last week it was announced that Björn’s salary would be increased by ISK 450,000 (USD 3,700, EUR 2,800) to ISK 2.3 million (USD 19,000, EUR 14,500) per month.
