Unemployment Rate Drops in Iceland

smaralind2_ipaIn the third quarter of 2011, 10,700 people on average were unemployed in Iceland, which is 5.9 percent of the workforce, according to Statistics Iceland. Unemployment measured 5.6 percent among men and 6.2 percent among women.

Baugur Tax Case Reopens in Court

Three Sharp Earthquakes Hit North Iceland

siglufjordur_psThree earthquakes measuring well over three points on the Richter scale, the strongest of which was 3.6 points, hit 34 kilometers north of Siglufjördur, north Iceland, yesterday morning. Earthquakes are common in this area and there were no reports of people having felt the tremors.
