Icelandic Coast Guard Rescue Syrian and Afghan Fugitives

coastguard02_psThe Icelandic Coast Guard’s Cruiser (ICP), Aegir rescued 58 Syrian and Afghan fugitives abandoned in a gully off the Radopos Peninsula in the Greek island of Crete last Saturday; the cruiser was recruited to monitor the Mediterreanean by Frontex, an independent body of the European Union Agency specializing in coordinating the operational cooperation between member states in the field of border security, until the end of October.

A Suspect Arrested For Stealing Artwork Voyage

voyage_steinunn-thorisdottiFör or “Voyage” by Steinunn Thórarinsdóttir, an artwork marking 1000 years of trading links between Hull and Iceland, was stolen from its location in the Victoria Pier Sunday last week. A man has been arrested and interrogated by local authorities. The artwork has not been found.
