First “Friday Butterfly” Performances Coming Up

whitedancers06Sixteen artistic groups will perform on behalf of the Hitt Húsid youth center every Friday throughout the summer in a series of events entitled “Föstudagsfidrildi”, or “Friday Butterflies”. Parliament’s Prosecutor Dismisses Former PM’s Demands

Haarde for misconduct in office in the lead-up to the banking collapse in 2008, dismissed his demands that the eight judges appointed to the High Court (Landsdómur) by the parliament should step down.

Iceland GDP Increases in First Quarter

gdp_change_2008-2011On June 8 Statistics Iceland announced that in real terms, seasonally adjusted GDP in the 1st quarter of 2011 increased by 2.0% from the previous quarter. This is only the second quarter since 2008 of growth in GDP. The increase seems to be entirely driven by increase in capelin fishing.
