New Photo Exhibition in Reykjavík Museum

leifuriii_rvkphotomusThe third part of an exhibition of series of photographs by Leifur Thorsteinsson, running until August 28, opened in the Reykjavík Museum of Photography last month. They include pictures of flowers taken on a 4×5 inch sheet film of the make Kodacolor HD, photos taken in the Reykjavík suburb Grafarvogur and of buildings that were located on the road to Álftanes.

New Art Exhibits in Remote West Fjords Village

djupavik2011-clausTwo photo exhibitions opened this week in the old herring factory in Djúpavík, a former bustling fishing village in the remote Strandir region in the eastern West Fjords, now inhabited by few. A third exhibition will be on display in Hotel Djúpavík this summer, featuring local handicrafts.

Fifth Annual West Fjords Film Festival Coming Up

patreksfjordur-town_psSkjaldborg 2011, a film festival dedicated to Icelandic documentaries, will take place for the fifth year in a row in Patreksfjördur in the West Fjords during the Whitsun weekend, June 10-12. This weekend the Scottish Highland Games are taking place there alongside the annual Fishermen’s Day festival.
