Inflation in Iceland Drops to 4.8 Percent

The consumer price index (CPI) is 361.7 points judging by pricing in July, down by 0.66 percent since June. The annual inflation is thus 4.8 percent and hasn’t decreased more rapidly between months since March 1986, according to Statistics Iceland.

Left-Green MP Wants Referendum on NATO Membership

The Campaign Against Military Bases (CAMB) has released a resolution demanding that Iceland withdraw its membership to NATO. Left-Green MP Ögmundur Jónasson said it is important for the Icelandic nation to vote on the NATO membership in a referendum as it is a military union and the nation has never been given the chance to vote on it.
