“Inspired by Iceland” Free Concert by Eyjafjallajökull Tomorrow

“Iceland Inspires” is an open air concert organized by the Inspired by Iceland campaign. It will take place close to the now quiet Eyjafjallajökull volcano at Hamragardar near Seljalandsfoss waterfall, on Thursday July 1st. Among performers are Damien Rice, Hjaltalín and Gus Gus. Editor’s Note: Due to weather conditions, the concert has now been moved to Hljómskálagardurinn park in central Reykjavik.

Right-Greens Found New Party

Haegri-graenir, or Right-Greens, are a new political party founded on June 17th. The party emphasizes a right-winged environmental policy and believes Iceland should withdraw from its collaboration with the IMF and EU.

USA: Icelandic Dog Registered

The American Kennel Club has acknowledged the Icelandic Sheepdog as a special dog breed and added it to a list of more than 167 breeds of dogs allowed to participate in dog shows organized by the Club.

Top Gear and the Eyjafjallajökull Eruption

A video clip showing British TV show Top Gear on their excursion to the erupting Eyjafjallajökull last April has been put on Youtube. The excursion caused quite a controversy at the time. Many thought that the crew and their Icelandic tour guides were not being cautious enough, venturing extremely close to the site of the eruption.
