In recent days the volcanic smoke in Eyjafjallajökull has been getting lower by the day. This suggests that magma flow may be diminishing compared to the end of last week and the weekend. The Icelandic Weather Bureau says that volcanic activity may still be irregular over the next days.

The Supreme Court of Iceland dismissed yesterday the claim of Sigurdur Einarsson, former chairman of the Icelandic bank Kaupthing, that the warrant for his arrest be revoked. The court found that there is no basis in the law for filing charges against a verdict of this type.
