Rescue Operation at Eruption. Helicopters Save 50 People

About 50 people were saved by three helicopters, one from the Icelandic Coast Guard and two from Nordurflug, a private company. The people were moved the eruption site after a new rift opened at the site of the eruption. Helicopters are waiting at this moment at Hótel Rangá, a hotel between Hella and Hvolsvöllur, two southern villages.

Constitutional Parliament in Iceland in October?

Chairwoman of the Althingi parliament’s General Committee Steinunn Valdís Óskarsdóttir is aiming towards completion of a bill on a constitutional parliament shortly after Easter. If the bill is passed before the parliament’s summer vacation, people could be elected to a constitutional parliament in October this year.

Police Catch Tycoon Paint Splasher

The Capital Region Police arrested a man in January on suspicion of having splashed red paint on houses and vehicles owned by wealthy individuals. Now it has been proven that the man is the same person who posted videos of the paint splashing on YouTube under the pseudonym of Skap-Ofsi (“Bad-Temper”).

Today is Easter Monday
