A campaign called “Mottumars” (“Moustache March”)—where men are encouraged to grow moustaches and post pictures of themselves on the website—is the reason for its popularity.

Cross-Country Skier Ends Trip Due to Lack of Snow

Einar Stefánsson, who was planning to ski across Iceland from the east to the west, cut his journey short after 15 days in the highlands due to lack of snow yesterday. He began at the mountain road Öxi near Egilsstadir and had planned to ski onwards to the fjord Hrafnsfjördur in the West Fjords in three weeks.

Striptease-Verbot im Parlament diskutiert

Gestern wurde im isländischen Parlament Althingi ein Verbot diskutiert, welches ab dem 1. Juli Striptease in Island verbieten soll. Eine Erhebung der Hauptstadtpolizei hatte ergeben, dass etwa 100 ausländische Frauen jährlich nach Island kommen, um in Striplokalen zu tanzen. Ob sie zu diesen Praktiken gezwungen werden, konnte nicht mit Bestimmtheit gesagt werden.

Iceland Crisis Report Expected Around Easter

The report conducted by an investigation committee of the Icelandic parliament, Althingi—which publication has repeatedly been postponed—is expected to be released around Easter in early April. The committee has investigated the events leading up to the banking collapse of October 2008.
