Series of Earthquakes near Selfoss

Several smaller earthquakes were measured near Selfoss, south Iceland, yesterday, the largest measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale. More earthquakes are expected in this area during the next 24 hours and a larger earthquake could be on its way.

Trawler Catches Active Magnetic Mine

The trawler Thorvaldur Lárusson from Grundarfjördur caught an active German magnetic mine in its fishing gear by Látrabjarg, Europe’s largest bird cliff, located in the West Fjords, last weekend. The mine has been underwater for 60 years.
