Two men assaulted the international football player Eidur Smári Gudjohnsen in Reykjavík’s city center last Saturday night. Gudjohnsen didn’t suffer any injuries and is not going to press charges.

Protestor likely to be released today

Twenty-three-year-old British Saving Iceland activist Miriam Rose, who has been held in prison in Reykjavík for eight days, will be released today. She was arrested while protesting against the Icelandic government’s support for heavy industry.

Commuting takes an average of 11.6 minutes

A new Capacent-Gallup poll has revealed that only two percent of Icelanders use the public bus system to travel to work whereas three percent cycle and twelve percent walk. Around sixty percent drive alone to work. Commuting in the Reykjavík area takes an average of 11.6 minutes.
