Lower taxes on imported meat not used

The majority of an import quota to lower taxes on 550 tons of imported meat products from the EU was never collected by the companies that were entitled to use it, as revealed today. The quota was supposed to contribute to lower food prices.

Taxi catches fire while in motion

Taxi driver Gudni Ragnar Eyjólfsson, who was driving in Reykjavík suburb Kópavogur towards Hafnarfjördur yesterday, suddenly noticed that his car was on fire. Eyjólfsson and his passenger managed to escape and both were unharmed.
