Nests swallowed by water

The surface of Hálslón, the lake by Kárahnjúkar dam in Iceland’s eastern highlands, is constantly rising, swallowing nests and eggs laid by geese. The area used to be a nesting ground for graylag geese.

Snow falls in Reykjavík

Residents in Iceland’s capital woke up to white mountains and snow on the streets yesterday morning. This type of weather is known as vorhret (“spring cold spell”) and is not unusual for this time of year.
