The international investors service Moody’s has decided to review certain work methods of the company and announce the results on Friday, in light of criticism of Moody’s recently upgrading Icelandic banks.

Avalanche risk in the Westfjords

Four homes were vacated in Bolungarvík, in Iceland’s Westfjords, yesterday morning due to risk of avalanches. Snow layers are unstable and several minor avalanches have fallen in the northern Westfjords in the last few days.

Wave drags car out to sea

A resident in Eyrarbakki, south Iceland, was washed into the ocean when a tidal wave hit his car at the pier in the neighboring town of Stokkseyri Friday. A firefighter brought him ashore.

Monastery in the Eastfjords

A Roman Catholic monk order is planning to buy a lot in Kollaleira near Reydarfjördur in Iceland’s Eastfjords to build a monastery for monks. It would be the first in Iceland since the Reformation in 1550.
