An Icelandic engineer, Jón Þór Ólafsson, 37, was found shot to death in El Salvador on Sunday, reports Morgunbladid. Jón Thór worked as an engineer contructing a geothermal electrical power plant for the Icelandic company Enex.
The artistic director of the National Theatre of Iceland, Tinna Gunnlaugsdóttir, said that there was a “state of emergency” at the theatre because of lack of building maintenance. She said water was leaking onto the actors while on stage and theatre guests must step around puddles walking to and from their seats.
The protesters held banners with slogans protesting the building of dams in Iceland. One of the banners had a picture of a deer being led to slaughter by an Alcoa worker.
