Steingrímur J. Sigfússon, leader of the Left-Green environmentalist party, was seriously injured in an auto accident last night. Sigfússon was driving alone in a slope in Húnavatnssýsla when his car skidded off the road and rolled several times over until it stopped. He remained conscious and managed to call the police.

The international development agency ICEIDA, which is linked to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, has received an ISK 229 million budget increase for 2006, from ISK 717 million last year to ISK 946 million.
