Straumur Investment Bank will acquire the operations of Burdaras, under the name of Straumur – Burdaras, while Landsbanki will acquire a few key assets. The planned merger is reported to be the largest single transaction ever to take place on the Icelandic market.

Yesterday was the 25th anniversary of Vigdís Finnbogadóttir’s inauguration as president of Iceland. Her appointment received worldwide attention as the world’s first female president.
