An eighteenth century document preserved at the French Ministry of Defence in Paris reveals that the French Government wanted to claim Iceland. They were prepared to give Louisiana in the USA to Denmark in exchange for Iceland.

Leader of the Alliance Party Össur Skarphédinsson believes that the Left Green Party and the Alliance Party could unite into one strong party. He says that there’s perfect trust between the leaders of the two parties and that most of the political issues are the same.
