Such an agreement has been worked on for the past three years. Around a year ago, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was reportedly ready to finalize the agreement, which is now in its final stages and the final draft was sent to Russia on Friday.
It is expected that a representative of the Russian government will travel to Iceland shortly to sign the agreement.
