Maybe it would be best for both Jón Bjarnason and the whole country if he were to move to Grímsey, an uninhabited island in the West Fjords.

Open letter to the government, parties and the media of Iceland/ 16.12.08
/icelandreview/search/news/Default.asp?ew_0_a_id="317086
Dear Madam,
dear Sir,
in re: to the above mentioned "Open Letter" (Link), we've received many positive replies and reactions from your political parties and your tourism branch, as well. Thus, we'd like to present you a few examples of the answers received:
1.
Dr. Össur Skarphéðinsson, Minister for Industry, Energy, Regional Affairs and Tourism
Dear Sir,
We, the Socialdemocrats managed last year to stamp out fisheries for large whales and we have vehemently as ministers and politicians fought the catching of minke whales as well.
You should give us the benefit of the doubt and assist us in our endeavours, but a ban on Icelandic goods during times of our greatest crisis is perhaps not a noble way of reaqlizing your strongest views.
But the will is free and you certainly are welcome to express your dreams and demands to me.
I remain, your humble servant as always.
Dr. Össur Skarphéðinsson, Minister for Industry, Energy, Regional Affairs and Tourism.
2.
Left-green-movement
Katrín Jakobsdóttir
Dear Andres,
many members of the Left-Green movement, including myself, have objected gravely to whaling in Iceland. Thanks for your letter and support,
Best regards, Katrín.
3.
Tourism branch
Gudrun M. H. Kloes atvinnuráðgjafi
Dear Sir,
we acknowledge having received your mailing re: your planned protest against whaling in Iceland.
You most likely are aware that whaling in Iceland is not without opposition, particularly in the field of Tourism, where doubts remain high, and whale watching is encouraged.
Kind Regards,
Gudrun M. H. Kloes atvinnuráðgjafi
4.
Association of tourism branch
Pétur Óskarsson
I've received your notice to call for a boycott against Icelandic products, etc. We in the business of Tourism are not the proper contact re: your intentioned boycott. SAF has, for many years now, fought against whaling in Iceland. I know of no Tourism operator having condoned the whaling in Iceland.
Therefore, it is in your best interest to contact those in Government.
Minister of Fishing
Mr. Einar K. Gudfinnsson:

From these reactions, we gather that, within your country, there is much disagreement re: whaling, which exposes the fact that the call to end whaling in Iceland has gained much traction.
We again demand your Goevernment put an end to the gruesome whaling, thus furthering your already in distress economy via whale watching, which is certain to give you a much needed tourism boost.
Bestu kveðjur

Dadi Gudbjörnsson's art with its smiley faces, Aladdin's lamps, gleaming hearts, blue mountains and psychedelic flora of unearthly origin reminds me of the cheesy R.E.M. song “Shiny Happy People”. The sugar-sweet naivety fails to amuse me but I must admit it infects my mood with delirious joy.
