Maybe it would be best for both Jón Bjarnason and the whole country if he were to move to Grímsey, an uninhabited island in the West Fjords.

Dear Mrs.,
dear Mr.,
as you have certainly got to know from „Iceland Review_Online", we realize an international boycott against the Icelandic economy (fishing/ tourism / companies etc.).
Our appeal reads as follows:
Intervention at government level, and a call for the stop of „scientific" whaling, immediately. Also, for ethical and moral reasons, we abhore whaling in Iceland and, therefore, will continue with the international boycott, until Iceland stops the whaling.
We have informed 3000 of the most important Islandic companies about our boycott action. We were very surprised to have received much positive feedback; not about the fact that the companies should be boycotted, but about the fact that the whaling must end, finally.
We have also asked the EU to refuse the introduction of the euro, or the admission in the EU to Iceland later, until the whaling, and the unlawful selling of whale meat, is finished.
The first reactions from Brussels recommend our appeal.
Iceland had received financial assistance quite recentlly in the amount of more than 10,2 milliard dollars, which were loaned by the International Monetary Fund, and a number of countries.
In view of the special situation in Iceland, the 2009 reduction of economic output is calculated to be at 10 percent less, with more people out of work.
Therefore, we ask you now, as a responsible politician for your country, to put an end to this whale slaughtering because of alleged scientific reasons.
The results of scienfic whaling produce no workable results to the Cetaceen. After worldwide protests, you announced last year the ending of the commercial whaling in your country. This was received internationally as an important step in the right direction. However, this year, in two cases at least, your country still has exported whale meat to Japan.
The scientific whaling enables you to utilise the whale products independently, but it is clearly forbidden that you may pursue a trade with it. Once more the scientific whaling programme has the character of the commercial. That is not acceptable for us.
In your country there is already whale-watching. With this booming tourism branch, Iceland could take in more money than it will ever earn by the abating whaling, as well as that the whaling is counterproductive to whale-watching. This is known to you, and it does not exactly promote the Icelandic economy during this crisis period.
That Iceland, in the future, would not depend on financial assistances of the international monetary fund, and other countries, we want to help with intense joy.
Iceland is a wonderful country, with much to offer; it's nature, for example.

Dadi Gudbjörnsson's art with its smiley faces, Aladdin's lamps, gleaming hearts, blue mountains and psychedelic flora of unearthly origin reminds me of the cheesy R.E.M. song “Shiny Happy People”. The sugar-sweet naivety fails to amuse me but I must admit it infects my mood with delirious joy.
