Reykjavík City Wants Feasibility Study on Trains

Reykjavík City Council agreed yesterday to investigate the feasibility of establishing a railway system between Keflavík International Airport and central Reykjavík, as well as a light rail system within the city.

The city council is prepared to contribute ISK 10 million (USD 132,000, EUR 83,000) to the project provided the state will contribute the same amount, Morgunbladid reports.

The feasibility study will review and update earlier reports on a railway system in the city and consider financial aspects, the environment and other urban planning. It will be undertaken in cooperation with the city’s developing division and the Ministry of Transport.
