Reykjanes District Court sentenced Annþór Kristján Karlsson, who is 36, and Börkur Birgisson, who is 33, to seven and six years in prison, respectively, for a particularly dangerous assault, deprivation of liberty and attempted extortion.
The punishment was decided with the convicts’ criminal history in mind—36 years combined, visir.is reports.
In addition to the sentences given to Annþór and Börkur, Smári Valgeirsson was sentenced to two years in prison and seven others shorter sentences for being accomplice to attacking and threatening a number of people.
One of the assaults took place in Mosfellsbær early this year, another in Reykjavík in December 2011 and the third in Hafnarfjörður in October 2011. The assaults were all brutal; in one instance a victim was forced to urinate on another.
The convicts have four weeks to decide whether they will appeal the verdict.
