Icelandic actors Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson and Arnar Dan have been hired to play Cain and Abel in director Darren Aronofsky’s new film Noah, starring Australian actor Russell Crowe. Scenes for the film are currently being shot in Iceland.

The scene with Cain and Abel, which isn’t strictly related to the story of Noah’s Arc, will serve as some sort of an intro, Fréttatíminn reports.
In the Bible, Cain and Abel are two sons of Adam and Eve. Cain is described as a crop farmer and his younger brother Abel as a shepherd. Cain is portrayed as sinful, committing the first murder by killing his brother.
Jóhannes and Arnar were chosen from a rather large group of actors who auditioned for the parts. The crew was looking for strongly-built men aged 25 to 30. The actors won’t have many lines but must instead express the brothers’ emotions.
