Around 50,000 guests are forecast to visit the Geothermal Energy Exhibition at Hellisheiðarvirjun geothermal plant, owned by Reykjavík Energy (OR), in Iceland this year.
The exhibition includes multimedia presentations about the harnessing of geothermal energy in Iceland.
According to Morgunblaðið, 95 percent of guests are foreign, the largest number from the U.K.
In related news, CEO of OR, Bjarni Bjarnason, said at a meeting at Alþingi parliament last week that the energy available in Hverahlíð should be used to maintain the capacity of Hellisheiðarvirkjun geothermal power plant while looking into future options.
In June it was reported that the plant’s full capacity was 303 MW until the end of last year but it has since dropped to 276 MW.
