Chairmen of the Progressive Party Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson and Independence Party Bjarni Benediktsson have mostly completed their talks on the issues they want to highlight in their coalition next term but talks on division of ministries remains.
According to Fréttablaðið’s sources, the chairmen have discussed the merging of ministries carried out last term in the past two days and are planning to partly revoke the changes made by the last government and increase ministers by two.
The tasks of the Ministry of Welfare will likely be divided between two ministers. The other ministries that are considered to be too extensive are the Ministry of Industries and Innovation and Ministry of the Interior.
The chairmen have met with officials and obtained information about the situation within these ministries.
