The documentary Living with Lava, which tells the stories connected to three of Iceland’s volcanoes, was recently awarded the prize of first runner-up in the category Documentary Feature at the Reel to Real Film Festival in Winnipeg, Canada.
The film, directed by Theo Maximilian Goble, focuses on the stories of people living in the vicinity of the volcanoes Eldfell, Eyjafjallajökull and Katla.
A description of the film on Vimeo states: “With contributors speaking candidly for the first time about the 1973 eruption, the devastation still felt today from Eyjafjalljökull and what lies around the corner with Katla, the film is a visual journey that entwines mother nature with human emotion.”
The film was produced by Dragomir Dragostinov and Alfred Georg Alfredsson.

Today is the Second Day of Whitsun, or Pentecost, a Christian holiday and bank holiday in Iceland. Although Whitsun is a religious holiday, many people skip mass and use the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities with their friends and families.
