Just my opinion mind you, but when these crimes are not being quickly or smartly investigated, prosecuted and stiff sentences handed down they will continue to increase.
So rather than hire and train more police to do the job that needs doing in Iceland these days we just put cameras on buses, in buildings, on street corners, wherever, and even when caught the perpetrators know little if anything will happen to them if they just injure someone, not seriously hurt them. That of course is in the event that the statute of limitations doesn’t kick in before they are actively prosecuted.
Oh and if they are, far too lenient punishments are melded out. If they need to go to jail for awhile, take a number and wait your turn at home.
We’ll call you when we have a free cell for you.
That is why Iceland is in the predicament they are today be it buses, taxis, stores or just in the neighborhood. Time to address the real problem … don’t you think?
